Library Card Application
Please register if you have never had a Fairfax County Public Library card, or if your account is no longer active.
If you already have a Fairfax County Public Library card and need to update your information, please use our Update Account Information form.
Note! You will be registered for a temporary library card immediately, however, you will be unable to use some services until you complete your registration by providing your identification and proof of address to staff in a library branch. If the registration is not completed within 3 weeks the temporary account will expire.
All information collected by the Fairfax County Public Library is a public record. The Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) (Virginia Code § 2.2-3700 et.seq.) gives citizens of the Commonwealth and representatives of certain news organizations the right to inspect and copy many public records held by Fairfax County, with some exceptions. The Library may withhold your email address in accordance with VFOIA if you request that we do so. When you visit a branch to complete your library registration you will be asked to make a choice in this matter.
