Primary document, surveyed September 30, 1970 and published April 7, 1971, consists of spreadsheets containing Fairfax County public schools and their racial demographics by "American Indian, Negro, Oriental, Spanish surnamed American, and individuals not included" in the aforementioned categories. Also included is a 1970 racial composition by educational level, from preschool through grade 12 and including special education.

Fairfax County Public Schools interoffice memo, dated November 14, 1971, from Charles E. King to Dr. S. John Davis, provides statistics from September 29, 1972 to September 28, 1973, on the ethnic demographics of schools, with a section highlighting which elementary schools have a large popular of African American students.

Civil right survey spreadsheets, undertaken by U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, and the Office for Civil Rights, Washington, D.C., compile ethnic demographics by Fairfax County area and level of schooling.
